Robert A. Dye Fine Art
Artist's Statement
Robert A. Dye's work is a dialogue between the physical world and the transcendent nature of our inward journey. Every brushstroke is a bridge between a celebration of the physical qualities of paint and the exploration of the inward journey of self. Light-filled landscape, observed and expressed, is the means for recognizing, welcoming, and encouraging the viewer on their journey.

Biography
Robert A. Dye is an artist and writer who paints evocative large-scale landscape and abstract paintings and intimate plein air paintings. His large studio paintings are richly painted in light-saturated oils and acrylics. He paints smaller plein air landscapes in oils and in watercolors. His paintings are held in private collections throughout the U.S. and in Europe. Robert has had numerous one-person shows of his paintings in Philadelphia and in Dallas. Robert is currently writing a book about landscape painting, titled Landscape Painting and Soulfulness. His studio is in Delaware, near the bay. In addition to receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, Robert studied classical painting techniques at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is honored to count the late Louis Sloan and Seymour Remenick as mentors. While in the Philadelphia area, Robert spent countless hours painting plein air in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. He has taught painting, drawing and art history at several Philadelphia area art schools, including the Samuel Fleisher Art Memorial and the Hussian School of Art. He has also taught painting at the Contemporary Art Center in Dallas, Texas. Robert’s vision of intimate landscapes ranges from the wetlands of the East Coast to the wide-open vistas of Texas and New Mexico. Robert has also painted in Canada, France, Greece, Ireland, and England. Blending representational landscape and abstract imagery, his paintings evoke a Turneresque sense of light and space distinguished by energetic brush strokes and a sensually complex paint surface.
